Carragher wants to continue his good club form for England and prove that he can play at the very highest level ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers next month.
He said: "Hopefully I can get a start and get another cap for England. I want to play as well for England as I have been for Liverpool. I think that my best position is at centre-half and that is where I have played most of this season."

The 27-year-old added: "I have been involved with the England squad for a number of years now without actually pushing myself closer to the first team. The chances that I have had for the first team I haven't done as well as I would have liked or as well as I have done for Liverpool so hopefully I can take my club form onto the bigger stage."
Carragher also acknowledged the importance of this first fixture of 2005, which comes just a over a month before two crucial qualifying fixtures against Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan.
"We definitely want to do well because this is preparation for the two big qualifying game coming up next month. We want the performance to be good, but I just want to make sure that we win the game.
"Holland are a big nation with some big names. The Dutch always seem to have good young players with them and I am sure that it will be a very stern test for us.
"With the two qualifying games that are coming up we just want to get two wins and qualify as quickly as possible. The more games that we win then the quicker we can get there and that will give all the more time to prepare for the World Cup."
He also played up the role of his club captain Steven Gerrard, who he says is vital both international and domestically.
"Steven Gerrard is massively important for England and for Liverpool. There are a lot good midfielders at the moment, but I think that Gerrard is the best midfielder that we have got in the squad."
