Xabi Alonso is included in Spain's 18-man squad for the match against England next week.
By James Wright. Thursday, 11 November 2004.
Spanish coach Luis Aragones has named an 18-man squad to face England in Madrid next week.
Aragones has called up Jose Maria 'Guti' Gutirrez and Valencia striker Miguel Angulo to his squad for the first time whilst Real Madrid defender Ivan Helguera returns to the international scene.
Spain's all-time record goalscorer Raul is one of five Real Madrid players in the squad, and they will be up against Real teammates Michael Owen and, injury permitting, David Beckham.
Two Premiership players make it into the Spanish squad - Jose Antonio Reyes of Arsenal, and Xabi Alonso of Liverpool, both of whom have enjoyed good starts to the season.
Wednesday's match is England's first against Spain since Sven's first match in charge, back in February 2001. It will be their first visit to Madrid since Gary Lineker scored all four goals in a 4-2 win in the Bernabeu in 1987.
Sven will name his squad here on TheFA.com on Saturday evening.
