This resulted in an agreement that England's Madrid based players will only play for the first 45 minutes of the match before flying to England.

FA Head of Media Relations Adrian Bevington said: "Sven-Goran Eriksson spoke with Real Madrid officials yesterday regarding the England players participation in Madrid's fixture next Tuesday evening.

"It was agreed that they would play for the first 45 minutes of the match in the Spanish capital before flying to England on a private jet.

"We have enjoyed a very good relationship with the club since David Beckham moved to Spain before the start of last season and Sven believes it is very important that this relationship is maintained with sporting director Emilio Butragueño and coach José Antonio Camacho for the future - particularly with such a strong English representation at Real.

"The England squad will meet at lunch time next Tuesday, with the Madrid based players arriving later that evening. This falls in line with the FIFA regulations.

"Therefore, the Madrid players will be available for all but the first training session during the build up to our first World Cup qualifying fixture in Austria on Saturday week."
