Sven makes two changes
Wednesday, 08 September 2004.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has made two changes to his England side ahead of tonight's crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson will start an England international for only the second time and this match will also represent his competitive debut.
He comes in for David James whilst in attack Sven has brought in another Tottenham player - Jermain Defoe - for Manchester United forward Alan Smith.
Defoe has impressed for England in all four of his appearances so far and tonight's game will be his full debut having always come on as a substitute so far in his international career.
It is the first time in 17 years that England have fielded a side with three Tottenham players, when Steve Hodge, Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle all played together.
Otherwise England field the side that drew 2-2 in Vienna, with a midfield quartet of captain David Beckham on the right, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard in the middle and Wayne Bridge on the left.
At the back Ledley King continues to partner John Terry in the middle, with Gary Neville and Ashley Cole occupying the full-back berths.
