Sven-Goran Eriksson’s England stars have a new ball to play with – and after consultation with ball experts Mitre have rushed forward the launch date.
The Mitre PRO 100T was tested by Eriksson’s squad before the match against Holland in February and proved an instant hit.
Mitre Marketing Manager Paul Bell said: "The PRO 100T was tested by the England team and received a fantastic reaction from the players.
"In fact, they asked if we could bring forward the launch from the original date in May to the World Cup qualifier against Northern Ireland.
"I’m delighted to say we’ve managed it. The ball will help to make England games more exciting for the fans, the players and the media. And the Flag of St George branding should help everyone get behind our boys."
Mitre ball boffin Duncan Anderson said: "The PRO 100T is the fastest, most accurate football we have ever produced.
"It travels at speeds of over 100mph, yet still allows players to retain full control.
"Mitre are aware of the current debate in the game about footballs deviating in flight, which leads to goalkeepers making uncharacteristic mistakes.
"The PRO 100T flies true, and will not move around in the air like other balls."
The Official England ball is available nationwide from JJB Sports and costs RRP £69.99. A replica England ball is on sale for RRP £9.99.
