John Terry returned to the England side to help the Three Lions take a massive step towards the World Cup Finals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Austria.
After the match the Chelsea captain spoke to TheFA.com: "I thought we did well and passed the ball about really well, first half especially," he said.
"After that [the sending off] they put a lot of pressure on us and we had to pull Michael Owen back more or less into midfield and change our shape a little but thankfully we dealt with it.
England were rarely stretched by the Austrian attack and Terry was delighted that the defence did their job by making sure the opposition failed to beat Paul Robinson.
"We knew coming into the game that if we kept it tight at the back the boys would score," he said. "I'll look at the game again but overall [it was a] clean sheet and I am quite pleased."
Sven's side now face Poland on Wednesday knowing that only a victory will see them qualify for the World Cup as group winners, something the England players are keen on achieving.
"I'm looking forward to it. It's important for us to get another three points and keep winning. The main thing is to be qualified but we want to be top of the group."
