Cole is in the running to play left midfield having performed at a high level for Chelsea in recent weeks.
The 23-year-old is desperate to make an impact in the first eleven having been used as a squad played for most of his international career.
He said: "I am enjoying my football. I'm playing a lot for Chelsea, I feel fit and strong and feel I have developed as a player.
"I have heard Sven saying some nice things about me and it has given me a massive boost. It is always great to hear your manager saying good things about you.
"I would love the chance to play and help England win games. It won't be a problem for me to play on the left.
"I have played on the left, right and middle throughout my career. If I do get the opportunity to play I just want to take it.
"I have been on the fringesa long time and if I get an opportunity it will be very important for me to play well.
"There has been a lot of pressure and hype around me since I was a youngster but I have developed my game.
"At Chelsea I have given a lot more responsibility to my teammates because before I was trying to do everything myself. I am doing a certain job right for them and I can bring it to England."
Cole admits he is already dreaming of playing in the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
He added: "I got a little taste of it last time, but next time I don't want to be on the bench.
"It is always a great pleasure to be at the World Cup and to go there with the chance of winning it would be fantastic."
