During the 1950s his elegant ball skills earned him the title as one of the world’s best players.

Ocwirk,a player regarded as having great vision and abilities to read the game, played his club football for Austria Vienna and was a key member of the Austrian side of the 1950s.

His international successes earned him the honour of twice being named captain of the FIFA World team.

In 1956 he left Vienna to join Sampdoria, in Italy, where he was made captain before eventually becoming coach there.
