Following a successful return to the international set-up, Sol Campbell has backed the strength in depth of the England rear-guard.
Speaking exclusively to TheFA.com for England TV, Sol revealed his belief that the fierce competition for places would breed future success:
"At the moment there’s a lot of guys in the centre playing well," he explained. "It’s a good deep pool and competition breeds success - everybody’s focused.
"It’s the same all over the pitch. There’s positions up for grabs and I think that’s what England needs.
With such strength in depth surely England must be contenders at World Cup 2005 - so what will it take for England to win it?
"First of all we’ve got the get there! We’ve just got to learn from our mistakes and just be a little bit wiser in certain situations. "
