England defender Sol Campbell.
Campbell KO?
Tuesday, 06 May 2003.
It looks as though Sven and England will have to do without the services of Sol Campbell for England's vital Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia next month...
The Arsenal rock has an Achilles tendon injury and is expected be advised to rest for six weeks to cure the problem. Arsenal and England physio Gary Lewin has been in contact with Soho Square this morning to keep Sven completely up to date with his situation but, at this stage, it looks unlikely that Campbell will be able to take part in the big game at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday June 11.
Newcastle's Jonathan Woodgate could well come into contention to partner his old Leeds team-mate Rio Ferdinand for the must win game. John Terry of Chelsea could also come into the frame while the experience of Middlesbrough's own Gareth Southgate is another option for Sven.
