Scholes back in form and Gerrard is fit again too...
There was good news for England and coach Sven Goran Eriksson last night, as Paul Scholes again showed that he is getting back to top form.
His Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson last night said that he feels that the flame haired midfielder is approaching a return to his best.
Scholes grabbed the winner as United recorded a 3-2 victory over Olympiakos in the Champion's League.
United were cruising to victory after goals from Laurent Blanc and Juan Sebastian Veron, but the Greeks punished some sloppy United defending to draw level with two goals in four second-half minutes from Lambros Choutos and Predrag Djordjevic.
Scholes struck six minutes from time to clinch a victory that secured a place in the second phase of the Champions League.
"We never make it easy for ourselves," said a relieved Ferguson afterwards. "Fortunately Paul Scholes put the game beyond their reach and we are in the next phase."
Scholes looked sharp and his injury problems appear to now be behind him.
Ferguson added: "The games are helping him now. He needed a few games and now he is at full throttle."
Steven Gerrard is set to give Liverpool a major boost this weekend by announcing himself fit for action against Tottenham.
The England star has missed the last two games after picking up a hip injury while playing against Macedonia last week. He is due to return to training with the first team today and could be in Gerard Houllier's plans for the weekend.
