After the pre-match hype and the post-match euphoria, the England squad are taking advantage of a well-earned rest day.

With the squad back at their Awaji Island base, the most strenuous exercise of the day is likely to be a round of golf for most of the players and coaching staff.

Months of planning by The Football Association have ensured that the players have every facility available to them at their luxury hotel, and the squad will be making the best use of their leisure tiem today, ahead of the preparations for the big match against Nigeria on Wednesday.

The only concern to send a cloud over England's seaside retreat is the continuing worry over the fitness of Owen Hargreaves, who was substituted early on after an accidental clash involving his own team-mate Michael Owen in Friday's match.

Football Association Head of Communications Paul Newman confirmed this morning: "Owen will have a precautionary scan on Monday to assess the extent of any muscle damage to his leg injury."
