Jeju World Cup Stadium, Seogwipo, Korea

A sloppy goal at the start of the second half handed South Korea an equaliser in England's first far east World Cup warm up match.

Captain Michael Owen had put Sven's men in front with is 25th minute goal giving England's hard work the reward it deserved.

Paul Scholes was put through on the left hand side of the area and his low shot was kept out by Woon-Jae Lee. But the ball fell to Owen six yards out and the Liverpool hitman bundled the ball over the line.

However, England's new-look defence failed to deal with a 51st minute corner flicked on from the right and the ball dropped to an un-marked Park Ji Sung on the far post to header the Koreans level.

England, wearing the all-white strip, had the best chances in the first half and on 15 minutes Owen broke free and could have given them an early lead. However, his goal-bound effort around the goalkeeper was helped on by an on-rushing Darius Vassell, but the Korean defence made a last ditch clearance from the line.

Emile Heskey and Danny Murphy have also had sniffs of goal, both players forcing good stops from Lee between the posts, and an Owen Hargreaves chance failed to make the 'keeper work.

A battling first half performance from the midfield trio of Hargreaves, Paul Scholes and Danny Murphy made it difficult for Korea to get through, but three long-range chances came, the most notably from Hong Yoo Bo whose vicious drive gave Martyn something to think about.

In the second half it was Korea who were more productive and although neither side made any further real chances, the home side kept the pressure on England and were worthy of their draw.
