The statuesque figure of England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Sven to be cast in stone
Tuesday, 05 March 2002.
Sven-Goran Eriksson's success has made a huge impact on the English game - and now he has been cast in stone by the people of his hometown in Sweden.
A statue of Eriksson will be unveiled in his home town of Torsby on Monday, and the former Lazio and Sampdoria coach admits he is "very honoured" by the tribute.
Artist Gunnar Lundkvist, who lives in nearby Karlstad, is the man responsible for fashioning the 1.7-metre tall figure which will be placed outside Torsby's tourist information centre.
"I first got to know about this a week ago, and obviously I feel very honoured," Eriksson told local paper Nya-Wermlands-Tidningen.
"I'll be coming home in the summer so it'll be great to see what I look like.
