VIDEO: Gerry Francis v Scotland
Watch Gerry Francis score an absolute screamer as England power past Scotland 5-1 at Wembley.

Our new campaign to find The Nation's Favourite England Goal will run throughout England's Euro 2008 qualifying campaign in every England matchday programme and here on TheFA.com.

The result of the poll will be featured in England's final Euro 2008 Qualifier against Croatia on Wednesday 21 November 2007. Until then, we'd love you to email your own favourite England goals to us here with a picture of yourself, plus 50 words explaining why you've chosen the goal that you have, and your contact details.

We will publish the most interesting stories in the programme and on TheFA.com.

You can watch the goal chosen by Football Editor for The Sunday Times Jim Munro, by clicking the links above. Jim says: "England-Scotland was the grudge match of the year in our house. Dad was from Edinburgh, a proud Scot, and he never quite forgave me for being born in the south of England.

"I was sent out of town on a camping trip with the scouts, but the Saturday afternoon of the England-Scotland game, everything stopped so we could huddle round a cheap old radio for the match commentary.

"Francis scored twice as England trounced the Scots 5-1, and we were to re-enact this 25-yard scorcher for days after.

"The campsite was two miles from the nearest phone box. Straight after the final whistle, I ran the two miles clutching a 5p to make the call, and dialled excitedly for home.

"Dad answered: "Yes?. "Hi Dad..." He slammed the phone down. I set off on the walk back to the campsite with a big smile, knowing no more words were necessary."

Ex-Manchester United and England hero Gary Pallister chose Gazza's goal against Scotland in the 1996 European Championship.

He says: "Although it was very much an individual goal it was of massive importance to the team. It was a goal that set the tone for Euro 96 and was typical of both the attitude of that England team and Gazza in his prime."

BBC commentator John Motson picked out David Platt's goal against Belgium in the 1990 World Cup.

He says: "The goal was significant because David Platt scored it in the last minute of extra time when penalties were looking inevitable."

Former England manager Graham Taylor also chose Platt's goal while ex-England player and football pundit Rodney Marsh chose Bobby Charlton's goal against Mexico in the 1966 World Cup.

He said: "The great Bobby Charlton along with Johnny Haynes was the best ever England midfield player. His goal against Mexico at Wembley stands out. Bobby picked up the ball on the halfway line and ran 25 yards, dropping a shoulder one way and the other before unleashing a rocket 30 yarder into the top corner. Absolutely brilliant."
