Michael Carrick tells FATV that squad appreciated support in Warsaw
Michael Carrick paid tribute to the 800-strong England contingent who saw the Three Lions pick up a point in Poland.
The postponement of the initial game in Warsaw on Tuesday evening saw the match swiftly re-arranged for Wednesday afternoon and threw many supporters' plans into turmoil.
But Carrick and his England team-mates were even more appreciative of the support they received as Roy Hodgson's men were held to a draw by their hosts.
Carrick told FATV: "I was surprised how many were still there and we fully appreciate the efforts that they've gone to.
"It's just a shame we couldn't get the win for them.
"It's a good point for us, although the performance wasn't anywhere near what we would have hoped for.
"Sometimes that happens, coming away from home and with a tough pitch to play on.
"It was a tough night for us, but we got the point and we can take that away."
Those fans who stayed for the game on Wednesday were also re-imbursed for their ticket cost by the England Footballers Foundation and The FA.
