England skipper happy that England have something to build on
Steven Gerrard was content after England began Euro 2012 with a 1-1 draw with France.
England's tournament under new Manager Roy Hodgson began brilliantly when Joleon Lescott headed in to give England the lead.
And although Samir Nasri's crisp finish meant it ended all-square, there were positives to take following England's Group D opener.
Gerrard said: "Of course we would have been delighted with a win but you have seen tonight [France] have fantastic players.
"I think we caused them as many problems as they caused us. I said before the game no matter what the result, we don't get carried away. This is a platform and we need to follow this up with a win.
"We will look at our performance and analyse what we did right and what we did wrong, but all in all we are satisfied with a point."
