England - Welbeck 36'

Minute by minute

Brought to you by The FA

90'Joe Hart called into action when Lukaku knocks down for Fellaini 20 yards from goal. The midfielder's effort was heading inside the post but the keeper was down well.

90'Defoe again with a chance after linking with Walcott once more on the break. Beut this effort hits the side netting

FULL TIME

89'Wayne Rooney's dangerous looking free-kick from the right is heading towards Joleon Lescott in the six-yard box, buy Mignolet and Vertonghen combine to prevent him scoring

83'SubstitutionOff, Steven Gerrard. On, Jordan Henderson.

82'This time it's Jermain Defoe's turn to hit the woodwork. After receiving a pass from Theo Walcott just to the right of the goal, he shaped and shot across Mignolet. The ball smashed the post and away.

77'An absolute thunderbolt of a shot from Guillaume Gillet leaves Joe Hart stranded. Fortunately his first-time pile-driver clipped the outside of the post and went out for a goal-kick. Some strike though.

75'Belgian sub Romelu Lukaku looks to carve out an opening inside the England box but can't shake off Chelsea team-mate Ashley Cole, who blocks his shot. Joleon Lescott gets a cut on the head clearing the danger.

72'SubstitutionOff, Dries Mertens. On, Romelu Lukaku.

70'SubstitutionOff, John Terry. On, Phil Jagielka.

66'SubstitutionOff, Ashley Young. On, Jermain Defoe.

66'SubstitutionOff, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. On, Theo Walcott.

61'A rare sight on goal for Eden Hazard on the edge of the box, but his shot never troubled Joe Hart. He then fed Marouane Fellaini moments later, but the Everton man's effort was tame.

59'SubstitutionOff, Kevin Mirallas. On, Nacer Chadli.

53'SubstitutionOff, Danny Welbeck. On, Wayne Rooney. The goalscorer Danny Welbeck makes way for fellow Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney

51'Jan Vertonghen cracks a shot harmlessly off target. Been a bit of a low-key start to the second half.

46'England get the second half up and running.

HALF TIME

45'As the first half moves into injury time, Steven Gerrard twice comes close to extending England's advantage but both times is denied by a block inside the Belgium area

36'Goal scoredDanny Welbeck. Terrific goal from England's Danny Welbeck. Captain Steven Gerrard wins the ball back in the Belgian half and plays to Ashley Young. He waits for his Manchester United team-mate's overlapping run and slips him through into the box. Simon Mignolet comes out but Welbeck chips over the onrushing Sunderland stopper to register his first senior goal.

31'Another foul, this time on Ashley Young by Guillaume Gillet, as England broke free. The resulting delivery from 40 yards was too deep for any Three Lions players in the box.

30'Yellow cardScott Parker. Scott Parker booked for a foul on Jan Vertonghen following a string of free-kicks

26'It's Mertens this time who is sent sprawling as Glen Johnson puts in a strong challenge out wide on the right. Free-kick.

24'Axel Witsel shaves the bar with a fierce 20-yard drive from Dries Mertens pass

19'SubstitutionOff, Gary Cahill. On, Joleon Lescott.

17'Yellow cardDries Mertens. Naughty push from Dries Mertens earns him a booking. As Gary Cahill jockeyed the ball through to Joe Hart, the Belgian shoved the Chelsea man in the back, sending him clattering into the keeper. Mertens slotted home the loose ball, but was quickly shown the yellow card. The clash also forced Cahill off injured.

15'Chamberlain comes close with a clean strike this time. After Danny Welbeck bent his run in behind the Belgians, he laid off to the Arsenal winger 20 yards out. The shot goes over the bar, though.

11'Lively start for Chamberlain. Tried running past two Belgians, which he almost succeeded in, but was hauled down by both.

08'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has England's first effort at goal when he meets with James Milner's pull back, but slips as he shoots.

05'Kevin Mirallas earns the first corner of the game, but it ultimately comes to nothing. Belgium have started brightly.
