Ashley Young and Stewart Downing reflect on 1-0 win over Wales.
Match-winner Ashley Young praised England’s efficient approach in grabbing three points against Wales at Wembley which helped them a step closer to qualifying for Euro 2012.
The victory means England only need a point against Montenegro to reach the Finals and Young is confident his side can reach their goal.
“We wanted three points to boost our chances of topping the group and the performance wasn’t great, but you go out to win the game and that is what we’ve done,” said Young.
“We couldn’t get going but we come away from the game with three points and that is what we came here to do.
“We have to stay fit. We have another tough away game against Montenegro and we have to prepare and I’m sure we will go there and put in a good performance and get the three points.”
Young’s team-mate Stewart Downing echoed the Manchester United star’s sentiments.
“We were disappointed with how we played at times but like Ashley says the most important thing was getting the three points.”
