Winger delighted with debut, but disappointed to draw.

England winger Matt Jarvis got his first taste of international football at Wembley on Tuesday, but the joy at receiving his first cap was tempered by the late goal which sealed a 1-1 draw for Ghana.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers schemer was introduced by Fabio Capello for his debut midway through the second half with the Three Lions leading through Andy Carroll’s first goal for England.

In doing so, he became the first Wolves player to represent the England senior team since the legendary Steve Bull, but Asamoah Gyan’s stoppage time shot crept in at the death to make sure it wasn’t to be a winning start for the 24-year-old.

"I'm absolutely delighted to make my debut, but just disappointed that we conceded the late goal,” he told FATV in a brief interview after the game.

"It's always disappointing to concede late goals, it dampens the spirits a little.

"I thought we played extremely well in the first half though, we kept the ball and we created chances.”
