England captain John Terry has backed the young players in the squad to make an impression if manager Fabio Capello includes them against Bulgaria.

Manager Fabio Capello has notably included young Manchester United trio Tom Cleverley, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in his squad for the forthcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales. And Terry thinks they are more than capable of performing if they are picked for the matches.

He said: "They have come into the England set up and have felt very comfortable and very assured and rightly so. They are huge talents and have an awful lot to give.

"You don't go into the Man United side if you're not ready. They've shown some great individual performances and collectively as well at Manchester United so clearly they're ready.

"I don't think age comes into it at all. Good luck to them and they are certainly ready."

Terry also outlined England's target for their next two Group G fixtures.

"In the next two games it's very important we pick up six points and put ourselves in a very good position in the group," he added.

"We must be very positive in the way we play because clearly we have an awful lot of talent in the squad. We must believe.

"I think the way we drew against the Swiss we all knew we didn't play to our full potential. But the second half was very encouraging in the way we came back."
