Ledley King was absent from training as England's players were put through their paces before their final World Cup group match against Slovenia.
Tottenham defender King suffers from a chronic knee problem and struggles to train in the lead-up to matches. With Jamie Carragher suspended, Fabio Capello has said he will name Matthew Upson alongside John Terry at the heart of the England defence.
Michael Carrick resumed training after he missed Monday's session with an ankle problem.
England need a win to guarantee progression to the last 16, although a draw may be enough depending on USA's result against Algeria.
Capello's men, who have drawn their two games so far, face Group C leaders Slovenia in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday.
