Steven Gerrard calls for improved performance after disappointing draw.

England captain Steve Gerrard accepted the team had not performed up to their own expectations after a disappointing goalless draw with Algeria.

The result leaves England needing a win against Slovenia to assure qualification from Group C and the Liverpool midfielder believes they can improve.

He said: "We were missing goals in that performance. We're not happy with performance and we need to show more if we want to stay in the tournament and get to the later stages.

"We need to improve because we were not good enough in the final third to make the breakthrough.

"It was nothing to do with pressure. We've got to  handle it and play under pressure and now we know we have to win our final group game.

"We were not aggressive enough, didn't win the ball enough. We have to beat Algeria, but they deserve credit as it was their World Cup Final."
