Three Lions goalkeeper enjoying every minute in Fabio Capello's squad.

As World Cup fever starts to grip the nation, Joe Hart has spoken about his hopes and dreams of heading to South Africa as part of Fabio Capello’s 23-man squad.

The Manchester City ace is one of the three goalkeepers in Capello’s initial 30 strong squad who have been in Austria for a training camp for the last six days ahead of Monday’s game with Mexico at Wembley.

That trip has certainly brought it home to all of the players just how close the competition is nearing and the Hart admits he is just like a fan in that he can’t wait for the action to get underway.

“It's great, the intensity is just focused on football,” he told TheFA.com

“With the way the World Cup is there is so much hype around it, the English public just want the lads to do well.

“The whole country stands still, it unites everyone. No matter who you support, even if you don't particularly like football I think you can't help but get involved.

“As a fan, which was all I ever thought I would be, I never thought I'd ever be involved in anything like this, it's great.

“You plan your day around it, your week around it, you just get behind the team and want England to do well. That definitely helps, everyone just giving positive vibes around the team.”

After Monday’s game, the squad return to Austria for more high altitude training before facing Japan in Graz next Sunday and Hart feels it has been the perfect preparation for what lies ahead.

“I think it's been good being out here in the mountains, just focusing on our football and what we're trying to achieve,” he added.

“There are great players out here and everyone is trying to burst to get in the 23.

“I'll be doing everything I can, everything in my power, just to get in the manager's eye, and hopefully get a few more caps to my name.”
