Brazil friendly an opportunity for players to show what they can do
Wayne Rooney believes Saturday's prestigious friendly with Brazil in Doha gives England's fringe players the perfect chance to stake a claim for a place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad.
England qualified for South Africa in style, winning nine of their ten games in Group 6, scoring 34 goals in the process.
And Manchester United forward, Rooney, says the friendly with the five-time World Champions gives Capello a wonderful opportunity to fine-tune his squad with places still up for grabs.
"This is a great opportunity for the players who have come in to remind the Manager what they can do," he said.
"As players you want to play the best teams in the world, and there are no better than Brazil.
"Brazil are ranked number one in the world, and it's a massive game for us. We will try and play good football and we'll be going for the win.
"This game is another chance to see how far we've come [under Capello]. This game will give us a chance to look at different players and see where we're at."
