England striker Daniel Sturridge describes his new club as 'humongous'

Daniel Sturridge has joined Liverpool in one of January's first major transfers and instantly described his new club as 'humongous'.

The England star heads to Anfield from Chelsea for a fee reported to be in the region of £12m and is now hoping to put down permanent roots with the Merseyside club.

And the 23-year-old believes the future is bright for both himself and the team at Liverpool under the guidance of boss Brendan Rodgers.

He told liverpoolfc.com: "Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time - and I also see myself here for a long time. I am humbled and happy to be here.

"I've not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on. I've signed to be here for as long as possible.

"It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Sturridge has played for England at all levels from U16 to Senior and was previously on the books of Coventry City and Manchester City before moving to Stamford Bridge in July 2009.
