Crawley Town boss Richie Barker casts his vote for England Player of the Year
Crawley Town boss Richie Barker took time out from his side's FA Cup preparations to make his vote for the England Player of the Year for 2012.
And Barker believes that the emergence of several young players in Roy Hodgson's squad is a good sign for the Three Lions going into the new year.
His nomination went to Danny Welbeck, whose performances and goals for both Manchester United and England have caught Barker's eye.
He said: "I think there's a new, young generation of players coming through now, so it would be nice to give it to one of them.
"Someone who has been doing very well in terms of his goal record this year has been Danny Welbeck.
"He's scored some good goals and put in some decent performances and it's nice to see good, young players coming through."
