Tom Cleverley is targeting a starting berth against Poland
Tom Cleverley admits he would love the chance to face Poland in Warsaw on Tuesday night and hopes to maintain his unbeaten start to life in the senior squad.
Cleverley has wasted no time stamping his mark on the England team and has been outstanding for Roy Hodgson’s side in the World Cup qualifiers this season.
The Manchester United midfielder has shown that he can compete on the international stage and is hoping he can keep his place for a difficult trip to the National Stadium.
England regained top place in Group H following their 5-0 win over San Marino and Cleverley is confident they can come away with another positive result.
Cleverley said: “It will be another different experience for me on Tuesday night. I have played a couple of away games for England but one was neutral and the other was at a smaller ground.
“Tuesday will be different again and these are all good experiences for me to pick up. Hopefully we can get a good result.
“It makes me feel really proud and I am always happy to represent my country. I have won three of them and drawn one. Hopefully I can get the nod on Tuesday and carry on with the good form.
“They have got a lot of good players. I managed to watch a couple of their games in the Euros and the Champions League game between Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund when they had a couple of Polish players.
“We have prepared well. We have worked well in training and I’m sure we will watch them over the next couple of nights in meetings and we will be fully prepared for what they will throw at us on Tuesday.”
