Everton's Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka shut out QPR and Danny Rose impresses for Sunderland

Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines were both in the backline that ensured Everton won another point in their impressive start to the season.

Left-back Baines, recently deputising for Ashley Cole, was at his most dangerous with a number of free-kicks that threatened the QPR goal.

And Jagielka kept Bobby Zamora quiet until the Rangers striker was substituted and his replacement Djibril Cisse was also well handled by the former Sheffield United man, who could become a major force in Roy Hodgson's defence following John Terry's international retirement.

England Under-21 star Danny Rose continued his impressive form for Sunderland in the 1-1 Tyne-Wear derby.

The full-back, on loan from Tottenham, helped England secure their place at the 2013 European Championships in Israel earlier in the week, with a win over Serbia, and he carried that form into his league game with another dynamic performance.
