England Under-21s goalkeeper Jason Steele picks his Player of the Year

England Under-21s goalkeeper Jason Steele has had his say on the England Player of the Year and is right behind a fellow stopper in contention for the award.

Middlesbrough No.1 Steele says he’s voting for Joe Hart, a player he believes is amongst the best ‘keepers in world football.

Manchester City star Hart, 25, played in eleven of England’s 13 games this year, keeping five clean sheets. He was also a major part at club level as the Premier League title went to the Etihad for the first time.

So when asked for his choice for England Senior Men’s top performer in 2012, Steele had no doubts.

“Joe Hart for me,” he told FATV. “He’s always very consistent, especially for Man City.

“But for England in the summer he was brilliant at the Euros. He’d get my vote.”

Steele added: “He’s pretty much got the best of everything. He can do everything to a standard that is far superior than most goalkeepers. That’s why he’s up there with the best in the world.”

Joe Hart, along with Ashley Cole, Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Danny Welbeck are all in the hunt this year and it's up to you which star will claim the 2012 England Player of the Year award at the inaugural FA England Awards in association with Vauxhall at St. George's Park on Sunday 3 February 2013.

Place your vote in the poll below before the closing date of 13 January 2013. You can also vote for the England Men's Under-21s and Women's Senior Players of the Year, too.
