England manager delighted to witness Sports Personality Of The Year 2012.

Roy Hodgson was alongside some of Britain’s best at the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year 2012 on Sunday and is now hoping 2013 can be just as successful.

The England manager was at London’s Excel Arena for the glittering ceremony, which saw Olympic hero and Tour De France winner Bradley Wiggins crowned with the main award.

And after rubbing shoulders with some of 2012’s sporting heroes at the event, Hodgson is aiming to lead the Three Lions to World Cup qualification in the next year to make 2013 one to remember.

Hodgson told FATV: “I hope so. If it can be anything like 2012 has been for English sport then we’ll be okay.

“But there are a lot of interesting matches to play and I’m looking forward to it.”

With the likes of Wiggins, Jessica Ennis, Andy Murray and many more to choose from, voters were spoilt for choice in selecting their winner.

And Hodgson couldn’t pick one winner for himself, given the variety and high standard of the candidates on offer.

“There have been so many great achievements during the year and then we’ve had the Olympics on top of that,” he added.

“The Olympics threw up one candidate after the other, so I’m sure the polling had lots of searching and mind-searching before they came up with their decisions but we’ll see tonight what happens.

“There’s so many great candidates and there’s a lot of people, who if they don’t get it, will have deserved it and probably would’ve got it on another year when the field was less strong.”
