England Manager visited Flamengo's training ground during recce in Brazil.

England Manager Roy Hodgson landed in Rio on Thursday as he continued his trip around Brazil.

With nations required to select three prefered options for their potential base camps for the 2014 World Cup by early August, Hodgson and Club England representatives are currently in South America running the rule over possible locations.

Joining the Three Lions on the trip are Club England's Managing Director Adrian Bevington and Director of Team Operations Michelle Farrer, both of whom have already been to Brazil previously to examine the options.

After visiting Sao Paulo and Belo Horizonte earlier in the week, the group flew to Rio where they spent the day visiting three training grounds and a stadium, including Flamengo's new training ground out of town and their older one right in the heart of the city at Gavea.

While at Flamengo, Roy was also asked to pose in a team shirt, which soon appeared on their club website. "As the evening went on numerous people approached Roy for photographs," said Bevington.

"There are also quite a few English tourists here and they have also been delighted to bump into the England Manager."

And as the opening ceremony for London 2012 fast approcahes, Olympic fever is building in Brazil, especially with Rio hosting the next Games in 2016.

"It's clear how big the Olympics are here," continued Bevington. "Brazilian TV has dedicated channels based out of London and they are portraying our country in a very positive light. Furthermore, the Olympic football tournament is being shown constantly.

"Wherever we visit and whoever we meet, they want to talk about the football tournament."

He added: "Noticeably, a lot of the clubs here are sporting clubs running various sports teams. When you arrive at Gavea, there is a large outdoor swimming pool, used for water polo and swimming, there are clay tennis courts and a sports hall.

"Flamengo Sports Club have 20 athletes in the Brazilian Olympic squad across various sports, and we are told they have a real prospect in the swimming."

FATV are also with the group, so there will be video features and interviews from the trip coming soon.
