Chris can play at right-back or in central defence and had only featured in 13 Premier League matches for Fulham when Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to Old Trafford in the summer of 2010.

He started the current year with the Under-21s, and was outstanding alongside Phil Jones in all three matches at Euro 2011 as he reached 14 caps at that level.

Fabio Capello gave him his chance with the senior team at the start of the new season and he played for the whole 90 minutes at right-back in the Euro 2012 Qualifiers against Bulgaria in Sofia and Wales at Wembley, England keeping clean sheets in both.

Chris has made terrific progress for a 21-year-old who was with non-League Maidstone United only three years ago.
