  • Wayne Rooney in action against Switzerland.

UEFA suspend Wayne Rooney for three matches.

Further to UEFA’s decision to impose a three match suspension on Wayne Rooney following his sending off against Montenegro, The FA await the full reasons from the disciplinary committee, and will give full consideration to the decision internally, before deciding on any response to UEFA or making any further public comment.

What Do You Think?

  • Rooney is a really good player, but he has a bad temper. This does not mean that he has to be suspended for so long because England needs him.By anonymous (11 months ago)
  • Truth be told, Rooney is a liability. He's too hot-tempered. There's a difference between playing with passion and playing with a chip on one's shoulder all the time. He's a brilliant player, when he's "on". When he's not "on", he is literally a liability. He was pretty much useless in the last World Cup, and in the one before that, he got sent off at a critical time in the game against Portugal. I think he's overstayed his welcome, and it's time to cut the ties.By canadianguy55 (18 months ago)
  • What he did was stupid, but I still feel that a three match ban is a little heavy-handed. That said, if this is upheld, the sad truth is that there might not be much point taking him to Euro 2012 at all. Whoever we are drawn with will be difficult to beat and we have to accept the very real possibility that we might not get out of the group at all. If we don't, then he's simply taking a space in the squad for no reason, and if we do then it would be hard to justify dropping one the players that have actually got us into the quarter-finals.By anonymous (18 months ago)
  • How can the FA even consider an appeal when they are trying to promote fair play and hand out 3 match bans to lots of players for much less?By Westy (18 months ago)
  • I think the ban that Wayne received does not go far enough, the English FA should ban him from the England team altogether. To play for your country should be an honor and not a given right, There is a lot more to playing for your country than being a good player you should be respected as well. There is too much that goes unchallenged within the world of football and it is ruining the game. The youngsters that see the behavior of players like Wayne think they can repeat it on the pitch as well so you are on a downhill slide with new players in the coming years. You ask the fans to have respect but your players seem to do what they want with little respect and a total disregard to the fans. By The Tea Drinker (18 months ago)
