The jet-heeled winger had an eventful year with the Three Lions and was a regular choice for Fabio Capello over the course of 2010, although he ultimately missed out on a place in the World Cup squad for South Africa.

He didn’t let that affect him though and his performances in the early stages of the European Championship qualification games in the later part of the year have been good, figuring in the wins against both Bulgaria and Switzerland.

Unfortunately, in the latter match, he had to be substituted in the early stages with an injury after superbly setting up the first goal for Wayne Rooney and that kept him out of the next game against Montenegro.

However, he made his return to the team in the final match of the year against France and will now be looking to make more of an impact in 2011.
