A player who has been talked about for many years despite being so young, Wilshere spent the 09/10 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers and the regular football proved an important learning curve for the midfielder.
Having appeared for Stuart Pearce's Under-21s during the qualification campaign, Wilshere made the step up to the senior side following the World Cup in South Africa. Fabio Capello named him in his first squad following the tournament, and the Arsenal youngster came off the bench in the final 15 minutes for his debut.
A combination of injury and appearances for the Under-21s mean't Wilshere did not add to his sole cap, but with time on his side and a growing number of appearances for the Gunners, he will surely be seen again at senior level very soon.
