Latest update on Wayne Rooney's injury.
Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney has sustained minor ligament damage, according to a United spokesperson.
Rooney incurred the injury in United’s Champions League game at Bayern Munich on Tuesday night and initially there were fears the diagnosis could be much worse.
“We’re pleased to report that Wayne has not suffered a fracture,” the spokesperson told
ManUtd.com. “The scan revealed only minor ligament damage.”
Rooney has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 34 goals in all competitions for his club and playing a vital role in England’s qualification for South Africa 2010.
Further information will be released when United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson holds a press conference tomorrow (Friday 2 April).
