After adding two more England caps to his tally in 2009, Theo Walcott still retains his 100% record with the Three Lions - eight games, eight wins.

His year began on the sidelines however, as a shoulder injury kept him out of action for both Arsenal and his country until March. By the time Fabio Capello's men lined up against Kazakhstan and Andorra in June, Walcott was back in the starting eleven for both encounters.

No sooner had the whistle gone in the 6-0 win over the Andorrans at Wembley and Walcott, along with James Milner, were on a plane to Sweden to join up with the Under-21s for their UEFA European Championship campaign.

The 20-year-old appeared in all five games for Stuart Pearce's men, starting three, including the disappointing Final defeat to Germany. But it gave Walcott food for thought ahead of a potential World Cup this summer: "It's been a fantastic experience for me to play in a tournament, and hopefully I'll have another in the World Cup in 2010," he said.

"It's unfortunate we didn't get the result but we can be proud of ourselves and we'll be stronger as people after this. We're proud of getting to the Final, even if things didn't go our way."

Theo was back with the Senior Team in August, but was an unused substitute for the 2-2 draw away in Holland and then another injury, this time a back strain, meant he missed the two September World Cup qualifiers.

Another Under-21s appearance in the 6-3 victory over Macedonia in Coventry followed in October, before a knee injury kept him out of the frame for November's get-togethers at Under-21s and Seniors.
