Wayne Rooney claims brace of PFA Awards.
Having picked up his first PFA Players’ Player of the Year award earlier this week, Wayne Rooney has now achieved a double strike, claiming the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year, too.
The 24-year-old has been in prolific form this season for both Manchester United and the Three Lions. His performances for the Red Devils have seen him notch 34 goals in all competitions, including the winning goal in the Carling Cup Final against Aston Villa, while in an England shirt his nine goals helped the country qualify for South Africa 2010.
Although currently sidelined through injury, Rooney is expected to be fully fit for the World Cup this summer, which will no doubt come as a huge relief to England Manager Fabio Capello and the fans who have voted him the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year.
Recipients of the same award for the lower divisions were:
Championship - Graham Dorran (West Brom)
League One - Rickie Lambert (Southampton)
League Two - Kasper Schmeichel (Notts County)
