England touch down in Johannesburg ahead of 2010 World Cup.

England’s World Cup squad has arrived at their official base camp in South Africa.

Fabio Capello and his 23-man squad touched down at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo airport at 8am BST this morning (Thursday) and were then driven by coach to the their World Cup base, the newly-built Royal Bafokeng Sports Campus in Rustenburg.

Capello, who yesterday signed a new deal committing him to the England Manager role until 2010, said: “It’s good to be here.”

The entire team were welcomed at the camp by local dignitaries and residents who appeared incredibly proud to be hosting the England team.

Depending on how well England do at this summer’s tournament, the squad could be calling Rustenburg ‘home’ for more than a month.

  • Hi England You all looked great in your suits, especially the group photo at Heathrow. Everyone in the squad must have boarded the aircraft with certain amount of excitement and nerves. How was your Virgin Atlantic experience? I would imagine that they really looked after you all. Good luck as you settle into the new training facilities.   • With the pillow he is carrying SWP indicates that the England squad will stay until the end, meaning they'll enter the final....great .......(SWP wanted to avoid homesick)....well everyone is smiling......hope to see happy jubilant ending this time. Crowchy was exposed 4 years ago.....must have the edge from the others, i dont think he is getting any shorter this time.....make the kill with your header, you can do it..get going show em you're the greatest.
