England stars get involved in raising money for Comic Relief.
Gavin and Stacey’s Smithy (James Corden) stumbled upon members of the England squad whilst working on a plumbing job at their team hotel.
The charismatic handyman quickly takes the opportunity to deliver a unique team talk in order to inspire the players.
John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, David James, Peter Crouch, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick all benefit from Smithy’s wisdom including gems such as:
"Crouchy - You've started to fear the robot - you gotta let the robot fear you."
And on haircuts: "From now on we either shave it off or it’s a short back and sides - Becks you’re not exempt from this."
The hilarious seven-minute sketch was filmed in the build-up to England's game against Spain last month. Despite only having 48 hours together to train as a squad, the players were all keen to do what they could to support Comic Relief - squeezing in the filming session just before they flew to Seville.
England manager Fabio Capello said: "I'm delighted the players wanted to support Comic Relief. It's a fantastic and important cause."
Tune into Comic Relief – Funny for Money this Friday to see Smithy talk team tactics with the national squad. BBC One from 7pm.
