John Terry was delighted that his late goal ensured England defeated Ukraine at Wembley and remained on course to qualify for the World Cup in South Africa next summer.
Under Fabio Capello, they have a 100 per cent record in Group Six - and the Chelsea defender praised his team's passion after they conceded a goal with 16 minutes to go but dug in to claim all three points.
The England captain, named man-of-the-match, scored the winner - it was his sixth goal in the Three Lions shirt - with only five minutes remaining after Andriy Shevchenko had cancelled out Peter Crouch's early goal.
"I think we deserved the win overall," said the 28-year-old, who was making his 51st appearance for England.
"It was great to get the late goal and to come back and win the game.
"It was a great header back from Stevie Gerrard and it was very satisfying to get the goal that gave us the win.
"There were many positives to take from the game - I am delighted.
"The lads showed great fight and desire when it got to 1-1. We wanted to push on and win the game.
"It puts us in a great position and has set us up to win the group. We have two tough games coming up - against Kazakhstan and Andorra (in June) - but we will be hoping to take six points from them."
