Exclusive: His Spurs career may be coming to an end but the wheels are already being put in motion for Teddy Sheringham's move into management:

We can reveal that discussions have already taken place between Sheringham, his agent and The FA's Acting Technical Director, Les Reed, with a view to the former England international making his first managerial strides.

"I've spoken to Teddy about coaching a number of times over the last few years and we'll look at the situation again when the season is over to discuss what the best course of action is now," Reed confirmed to TheFA.com on Thursday morning.

"Obviously Teddy is still keen to play at the moment but it is feasible to play and get your coaching badges at the same time. Teddy actually has his Preliminary badge from some time ago. Once he's converted that to the contemporary UEFA 'B' Badge, we'd look to get him to UEFA 'A' level as quickly as possible because then he'd be eligible to go on the Pro Licence course which would prepare him excellently for top-level management."

And Reed has no doubts that Teddy has all the credentials to make it as a coach.

"I've spent a long time talking to Teddy about tactics and strategy when we've both been away with England. He's clearly got an interest coaching and management and, with his experience in the game, he should be ideally suited to it."
