Gary Neville will miss three England internationals, including the crunch Euro 2
Gary Neville will miss three England internationals, including the crunch Euro 2004 qualifier against Slovakia next month, as well as Manchester United's last two Premiership matches because of a foot injury
The United defender has been experiencing discomfort from the same foot injury which put him out of the England squad for the World Cup finals towards the end of last season.
"Gary Neville will undergo surgery today after experiencing discomfort in his left foot," a statement on United's website said.
"Following a medical consultation it has been decided to remove the screw that remained in his foot from his previous fractured metatarsal. This operation will take place today and he will be out for two to three months.
"He will back with Manchester United for pre-season training."
The injury does open up playing opportunities for two other England internationals. Gary's brother Phil, 26, may well now play in the Charlton match on Saturday - a match which could go a long way to deciding the outcome of this season's Premiership race.
As for Neville's spot in the starting line-up for the Three Lions, it would seem as though Danny Mills has been given an excellent chance to show again the good form that he displayed last summer when he starred for England in Japan.
