The England home shirt worn for the last two years is officially the fans' favourite ever! To mark the launch of the 2003-05 home kit, TheFA.com conducted a survey of England fans to find their favourite home shirt of all time. From the beginning of March, visitors to The FA's website were invited to vote from a shortlist of nine: the three lions on the shirts of 1966, 1980, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002...

Over 200,000 England supporters were e-mailed, asking them to vote online for their personal favourite. The response was overwhelming, underlining the massive interest in the national team.

The runaway winner was the 2002 kit, with almost 30% of the votes cast. Memories of the Sven's men wearing the kit in the historic 5-1 win in Germany and to secure last-gasp qualification for the 2002 World Cup will stay in the memories of England fans for years to come.

The FA's Director of Marketing & Communications, Paul Barber, said "The results confirm what we already know - that the England kits are getting better and better. The last home kit was the most popular to date, and we're hopeful that the new kit will be even more successful still."

Runner-up in the poll was the 1966 home kit, reflecting the fans' pride in England's World Cup winning team. The new England home kit, which is now available to buy, celebrates England's World Cup win with a gold star on the sleeve.
