Former Republic boss is the surprise face at training on Monday...

There were a few new faces for the cameras to get used to at England training on Monday. However, while the journos knew to expect Rooney, Beattie, Jenas et al, the sight of Mick McCarthy out there on the pitch must have taken a few by surprise.

The former Republic of Ireland boss stood talking tactics with Sven for some time as they watched the players shake off the weekend's exertions and focus their minds on Wednesday's enticing encounter with Australia.

"Mick [McCarthy] called Sven and asked if he could come along to training to see how things are done with England. Sven was happy to oblige," Paul Newman, The FA's Head of Communications, told TheFA.com.

"We see each other a lot at matches and he's only living five minutes away from where we're training this week," explained Tord.

"It was nice to see him."

We will let you know should there be any more surprise visitors during the course of the week!
