Wales won the 2006 Four Nations Tournament by the narrowest of margins after a fiercely contested week of football on the South Coast.
At the beginning of the day, England and Wales had four points each from their first two games, whilst Scotland had three.

Wales kicked off against the Republic of Ireland at Worthing FC at 12.30 and set the tone of the day with a 3-0 victory.

A goal from Dagenham and Redbridge's Craig Moore - meaning he notched in all three games - was sandwiched by a Les Davies brace, whilst the young Irish side had Kiernan Harte sent off in acrimonious circumstances.

The Welsh victory meant that the 4pm kick-off between England and Auld Enemy Scotland required Paul Fairclough's men to match the earlier scoreline or better it to be in with a chance of at least sharing the trophy.

The Scots provided doughty opposition in front of the week's best crowd of 2,036 at Priory Lane.

Goals from Justin Richards and Craig Mackail-Smith saw The Three Lions to a 2-0 victory and meant that two sides finished the week unbeaten.

With Wales and England tied at the top of the table on 7 points, the destination of the trophy had to be decided on the number of goals scored, meaning that for the third time in five years, by virtue of scoring six goals to England's five, the Four Nations silverware headed west across the River Severn to Wales.
