Goalkeepers

Name: Declan Rudd

Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Norwich City

Declan has featured for the Young Lions at both U16 and U17 level in recent years, but his first call-up to the U19 squad came for the Elite Round in May.

Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Fulham

An athletic goalkeeper who has been with Fulham since the age of nine. Previously involved at international level with the U17s, when he went to the World Cup in Korea in 2007.

Defenders

Club: Aston Villa

The central defender has impressed with his performances for the Aston Villa Academy side and will be hoping to make a big impression should he be involved with the Young Lions.

Club: Arsenal

A tall and imposing central defender who was called up to the U19s squad for the first time to face Turkey after previously being on standby and winning honours at U16 level. He was signed by Arsenal from Bolton Wanderers in 2007 and was a major part of the Gunners side which won The FA Youth Cup in 2009.

Club: Fulham

Matthew became the youngest player to have ever featured in the Premier League at just 16 years and 65 days old when he came on as a substitute for Fulham against Middlesbrough in May 2007.

A tall, pacy and powerful central defender who was first called up for the game with Russia in September. An Academy and reserve team regular at Old Trafford and the younger brother of United team-mate Wes.

Club: Yeovil Town (on loan from Tottenham Hotspur)

A pacy central defender who has emerged through the Academy at Spurs and been allowed to join Yeovil in League One on loan to further his experience. Received his first U19 call-up for the European Championship qualifiers in Slovenia in October.

Club: Coventry City

After only recently making his debut for the Sky Blues, his hometown team, at the start of the 2009-10 season, the tall defender will be hoping to have a taste of international football over the rest of the campaign.

The pacy right-back has built an excellent reputation for himself with his performances in the Championship for Palace and was rewarded with his first international call-up for the game with Russia in September.

The left-back had an excellent season last time around, spending time on loan with Ujpest in Hungary and then being named as Wolves’ Academy Player Of The Year. His first international call-up was for the game with Russia in September.

Club: Wycombe Wanderers (on loan from Tottenham Hotspur)

An attacking right-back, who has been an Academy and reserve team regular at White Hart Lane before being allowed to join Wycombe Wanderers on loan. Previously capped by England at U16 level, when he became one of the first players to play at the new Wembley Stadium.

Club: Leeds United

Called up to the U19 squad for the first time, this left-back has broken through to the first team squad of hometown team Leeds United last season, despite only joining the Yorkshire club as a scholar last summer after previously learning his trade in their Academy.

Midfielders

John Bostock

Position: Midfielder
Club: Tottenham Hotspur

A cultured presence in the midfield, Bostock has been a regular for the Young Lions at both U16 and U17 level  over the last few years. Skippered the U17s to the European Championship Finals last season. John made his professional debut for Crystal Palace as a 15-year-old in 2007, before moving to Spurs last summer.

Position: Midfielder

The defensive midfielder has been capped at U16, U17 and U20 level in the last two years and was part of the U17 team which reached the European Championship Finals in Germany earlier this year and then the U20 squad which went to the FIFA World Cup in Egypt. The younger brother and a Villa Park team-mate of England Under-21 international Craig Gardner.

Received his first call up for the game with Russia in September, after breaking through into the Southampton squad over the last six months. A rangy player who can feature across the midfield, he will be looking to make an impression on the international stage.

Club:  Manchester United

Prior to his first U19 call-up for the Elite Round qualifiers, Matthew had picked up a wealth of international experience previously with the U16 and U17 teams. A central midfield player, who is also versatile enough to play in a defensive role.

Name: Jacob Mellis
D.O.B: 08/01/91
Position: Midfielder
Club: Chelsea

Jacob was a part of the Blues team which reached the Final of The FA Youth Cup. He was signed by Chelsea after impressing in the junior ranks at Sheffield United. He was a regular for the England U17 team last season and for the U16 team the year before that, whilst still a Sheffield United player.

An all-action midfielder who has previously represented England at U17 level.  The 2008-09 season has seen the former QPR player make the first team breakthrough at Spurs where he has been involved in their UEFA Cup games. Received his first U19 call-up for the Elite Round qualifying games.

Recently made his first start for Everton, after previously making his first team debut for the club last season. Rodwell captained the England U16 team in 2006 and has also represented the U17 and Under-21 side too.

An attacking midfielder with bags of skill and flair and pace to scare any defence. A regular for United’s reserve team, where his performances have seen him become much talked about. Previously capped at U16 level for England.

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Previously capped at U16 and U17 level in recent seasons, this attacking midfielder plays on the left and received his first U19 call-up for the Elite Round qualifying games in Yorkshire. A product of the Spurs Academy, he has been involved in their first team squad this season.

A tough midfield enforcer who was first selected for the U19s in March 2009 for the friendly game with Czech Republic in Walsall. He didn’t get onto the pitch that night, but will be hoping to get more experience in the 2009-10 season.

A left sided player who is primarily a midfielder, but is more than comfortable in a defensive role too. His first call-up came for the European U19 Championship First Qualifying Round in October.

This left sided ace has hit the headlines this season after breaking through to the Arsenal first team. Capped at U17 and U19 level this season. A hard working and technically gifted player, Jack is highly rated at the Emirates Stadium by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Forwards

Club: Aston Villa

A prolific goalscorer in the Academy and Reserve teams for Villa, the Birmingham-born striker has played for the Young Lions at both U16 and U17 level and has been included in the first team squad by Villa manager Martin O'Neill in the past.

Club: Newcastle United

A pacy Geordie frontman who has previously been capped at U17 level and will now be looking to make a similar impact at U19 level, after once netting a brace against Iceland in the 2007 Nordic Tournament.

Position: Forward
Club: Yeovil Town (on loan from Tottenham Hotspur)

A prolific goalscorer at youth and reserve levels for Tottenham Hotspur, Mason has been involved in Spurs' UEFA Cup squad on occasions and has been allowed out on loan to Yeovil to pick up more first team experience. His first U19 call came for the European Championship qualifiers, but he had previously been involved with the U16 squad.

Position: Forward

The highly-rated striker was first picked for England for the U20 World Cup in Egypt after an impressive few seasons with Manchester City in the Academy and reserve teams at the City of Manchester Stadium. Liberian-born, but with an English father, he scored England's equaliser against Uzbekistan in their final game of that campaign.

A former England U17 player, the rangy striker was signed by West Ham in the summer of 2009 from London rivals Chelsea. His first U19 call came in September for the European U19 Championship First Qualifying Round.

Club:  Newcastle United

A tall and pacy striker who made a big impression in his first appearance for the Young Lions against Czech Republic in March when he was introduced as a second half substitute. The Londoner joined Newcastle United from Southampton, where he impressed as a schoolboy.

A key figure in the Arsenal team which lifted The FA Youth Cup last season, the lightning quick Londoner will now be looking to take that form onto the international stage after previously winning caps for the U17s.
