England hotshot Jack Rodwell believes the Young Lions squad is well set to progress again on Friday evening.

Stuart Pearce’s side face hosts Sweden in the semi-final after an impressive group campaign which saw them become the first team in the competition to seal their place in the last four and put in good performances against the likes of Spain and Germany.

All members of the 23 man squad have also played a part, with the team chosen to face Germany on Monday showing ten changes from the previous game with Spain and Rodwell feels this can only be beneficial in the long term.

"Rotation in this type of tournament is important, so it's good that all 23 in the squad have been used and the lads that came in did really well,” he told TheFA.com

"Germany are a strong side and you could say it was our weakened team maybe, but we did well and showed that we can cope with any team as a squad, and not just a starting eleven.

"Everyone is fighting for their place and I think it's given the boss a headache for the semi-final.”

Rodwell himself was among the pick of the players against Germany and headed home the first half goal which brought England level and sealed the point that saw them finish on top of Group B.

"I feel like there is still more to come from the team itself. Monday was the first time that a lot of us have played together,” he added.

"The games are coming thick and fast now, the confidence is very high in the squad and we think we can do well in the competition.”
