Capello's excitement

Germany v England

Olympic Stadium, Berlin
Live on ITV1

England Manager Fabio Capello says that the experience of arriving at a match with England is the most exciting part of his job.

In an exclusive interview with TheFA.com, Capello revealed that although international management is different to the work he has done in club football he takes enormous pleasure in the challenge of leading England.

"Like a manager I want to work everyday, train everyday, and meet the players in every moment - but this is a different life, a different job," Capello explained.

"I travel a lot and watch a lot of games, but when I arrive at a game it is very exciting. You need many strong things and fantastic concentration to do everything in a short moment."

While Capello admits that a strong start to World Cup qualification was important, he is only looking ahead as he seeks to improve England with every training session and every match.

"Yes, it's important. We have won four games and have 12 points, and I think the most important result was when we played Croatia and we won away from home. That was important psychologically for the players, for us and for the fans.

"But the next qualifier that we play at home, against Ukraine, will be a very important test.

"We have worked hard and a lot of people have helped me during this year. We are very happy with the results and what the squad has done during the different games.

"We have improved a lot and all of the players are finding the confidence, and they have played better in every game. The results and the system is better with every game."

As Capello approaches a year in charge of England, the Italian has only positive things to say about his new home.

"I like it in London, and I like England," Capello told TheFA.com. I live here very well, I can find everything; I like the exhibitions, the theatre - I like everything about the culture.

"Here I can find everything and also the many different restaurants. But I don't like to go to the disco, that's not for me but for the younger people," Capello joked.

Looking at the final fixture of 2008, Capello is convinced that it will be another crucial chance to learn from his players as he tries new things - but he also understands the history of the fixtures between England and Germany.

"Our opponents Germany are always a very strong team, and when they play at home even more.

"Everyone has told me that it is not a friendly game against Germany, but I think this will be a friendly game. We will do some experiments and after this game I will know better some different players."
